The camel trek into the desert for 2 days/2 nights was the highlight of our 10 day trip with Berber Tours in March 2005. It was an incredibly serene experience. The only living souls we encountered on the first two days were 4 camels (2 brown camels and 2 young ones) and a herd of wild camels off in the distance. Our guide for the 10 days, Khalid, was fantastic — truly at home in the desert; a good chef too, as was our other member of the camel trek, Larsen, who baked the "sand bread". Our camels, "Azogar", "Amalal", and "Oularage" (the pack camel) were very well behaved. The sunset at Rasis was amazing.
We cut short our mule trek in the Middle Atlas Mountains because it was extremely cold; however, the warm hospitality/friendliness of Moha and the mountain Berbers made our short time interesting. Our stay at the auberge in Merzouga was great! The drive from Tarandout to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains (Tizi-n-Test pass) was amazing. Many thanks to Jeffrey who assisted us in planning our own itinerary and to Daoud for agreeing when we wished to change it: to Daoud/Mohamed for driving us safely around Morocco in the 4 x 4 Landcruiser/Landrover. Very special thanks to our very able guide, Khalid, who made our time in Morocco very memorable.
We had a fantastic time, will visit Morocco again and will certainly contact Berber Tours again.
