ITINERARY

Day 1: Marrakech

Arrive in Marrakech.

Day 2: Essaouria

Travel to Essaouria and visit the old Portuguese city. Wander through the narrow streets and visit the local fish market and souk or sit in a pleasant café and sip mint tea while you watch life pass you by. If you like to swim, you may visit the local beach and dip your toes into the surf and that night sit on the rooftop terrace of your riad and watch the twinkling lights of Essaouria.

Day 3: Essaouria

Second day in Essaouria.

Day 4: Agadir - Tiznit

Upon your arrival in Agadir you will be welcomed by your guide and will leave for Tiznit famous for its silversmiths. It is a good point of departure to discover the Anti-Atlas Mountains.

Day 5: Tafraoute

The day begins by investigating the souks (markets) of silver before beginning the road to the interior. You will cross the sweet agricultural landscapes and then wind into the mountains which can take on surprising tones. You will see small Berber villages coiled on hillsides, becoming confused almost with the earth surrounding them. In the afternoon you will arrive at Tafraoute in the heart of a striking landscape. The village is famous for its almond trees, Argan oil and its slippers. Snuggled up in the charming Ameln valley are the meadows of Tafraoute, which are ideal for walking.

Day 6: Discovery of the valley and the Berber traditional house

Take the opportunity to get in touch with the lifestyle and the local culture. In the evening take advantage of the famous Moroccan hospitality.

Day 7: Tata

Tata is a city of the Anti-Atlas Mountains and is a good stopping point before resuming the track. It is a quiet town in pastel tones of pink, blue and yellow.

Day 8: Zagora

Traveling on rarely frequented tracks, and in a seldom-visited sector you will experience landscapes very different from those that you may know. At the end of day you will reach Zagora, the heart of a beautiful oasis.

Day 9: Walk with camels

You will approach the desert regions of Morocco , traversing in a Toyota Land Cruiser, the immense track through barren landscapes. Before arriving in Merzouga, you will travel by camel to join your camp under traditional Berber tents and to admire the sunset on the dunes of golden sand. Spending the evening by a campfire under the starry sky will help you to catch the spirit of the desert.

OPTIONAL: Overnight camel trek. All food, camping equipment, camels, and entertainment are included (See below).

Day 10: Merzouga

Wake up to the sunrise on the ever-changing dunes and take advantage of the slow rhythm of life in the desert.

Day 11: Todra Gorge

After your trip to the desert, you will travel to Todra's magnificent and narrow gorges where vertiginous cliffs of pink ochre frame a crystal clear and fresh river. At the end of the day, take a moment to appreciate the beauty and tranquility of these places.

Day 12: Dadès Gorge

Your driver will leave you within a few feet of the fabulous rocky formations so that you can continue your trip on foot. In your own rhythm, you will discover intact and wild landscapes strewn with villages with flat roofs among almond and fig trees. Spend the night in the gorge.

Day 13: Return to Marrakech

Return to Marrakech with half-day free to explore the city.

Day 14: Marrakech

Free day in Marrakech. Discover the famous red city, visit the immense souk (market), and plunge into the excitement of the place Jemaa el-Fna in the heart of Morocco. Hotels in Morocco:

Berber Tours uses a variety of different 3-star and 4-star hotels around the country for our 4x4 tours. While we cannot guarantee a specific hotel, we can guarantee that ALL of the hotels we use are clean and comfortable and will have many of the amenities you would expect to find in any hotel. The hotels we use also offer either breakfast or dinner, but usually both, as part of the hotel stay. Where available, as in Marrakech, we can also offer at the 4-star hotel package rate, the option of staying at one of the many quaint and comfortable riads within the Medina. However, at a riad, usually only breakfast is offered as part of the cost for staying there.

Hotel standards in Morocco and Europe DIFFER from those in the United States; in most cases, a "3-star" hotel by U.S. standards is the same as a "4-star" hotel in Morocco and Europe.
